· Advise poultry business SME’s on the appropriate equipment required for poultry production and processing

· Advise SME’s on record keeping and strategic management of the poultry business

· Coach the SME’s on how to assess the health of hives and treatment procedures in case of infestations

· Train the SME’s on bee keeping best practices such as pollination, hive management, honey harvesting, dividing colonies and queens, replacing combs etc.

· Advise SME’s on post harvesting processes/handling of honey, sales and marketing strategies, and record keeping

· Advise SME’s on appropriate equipment for both the production and processing equipment for honey production

· Assist SME’s in applying for relevant licenses.

· Assist fish production business SME’s to understand the fish value chain, the gaps in their contexts, and how to address these gaps as business opportunities.

· Train the fish production business SME’s on:

  • Establishment of fish farms (ponds, raised beds, and cage fishing) including advice on optimum capacities of production based on the available resources.
  • Fish farming best practices for profitable production (feeding, pest and disease control etc.)
  • Production planning for proper capacity utilization and management of raw materials
  • Management of hatcheries
  • Fish processing standards and methods
  • Health and Safety practices and audits in the farms

· Advise fish production business SME’s on the appropriate equipment required for fish farming/production and processing

· Advise SME’s on record keeping and strategic management of the fish production business

· Provide capacity building to SME’s in financial management to include the development or input into book-keeping systems, internal control systems, financial policies and procedures, budgeting systems, asset management, financial reporting systems and tax reporting.

· Identifykey measures for driving business profitability and create structures for capturing data for monitoring purposes.

· Help in determining appropriate business financing e.g. equity financing, debt financing, working capital, fixed asset financing etc. needed by the business to achieve optimal growth.

· Provide support in day-to-day book keeping functions, regular reporting and budget review functions.

  • Ensure compliance to financial policies and procedures for the business.

· Develop physical supply chain processes including workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, and system flows that will ensure a seamless operation of procurement, logistics warehouse and fleet management.

· Assist the SME in developing or improving existing vision, mission, core values and strategic objectives of the SME in relation to their business plan.

· Review and benchmark the SME/business enterprise to best industry practices.

· Review and input into the SME’s business model touching on problems the business is addressing and its solutions, key activities for measuring, unique value proposition, customer segments, channels/paths to customers, cost structure and revenue streams.

· Perform tax research, planning to ensure that the SME’s organisation's remains compliant with all prevailing statutory and regulatory standards cost effectively.

· Train SME’s on tax planning, compliance, and benefits.

· Provide Quality expertise throughout the design and manufacturing process of food products

· Regularly check and test samples of the products to ensure that products meet quality and safety standards

· Monitor performance and compliance with regards to hygiene of all SME staff including use of recommended protective gears while on the production floor

· Keep records of all the tests carried out, analyse and make recommendations on the findings to improve quality of blends

· Meet with SME production staff to work out the root cause of any quality issues arising and make recommendations on any changes that need to be made on current processes.

· Provide technical advice and monitor corrective actions on non-conforming products

· Issue documentation relating to reject products and ensure that such products are clearly marked and isolated for disposal

· Deliver product varieties and improvement programmes in the production lines through training of SME production staff on product development and quality.

· Carry out risk assessments in respective SME businesses premises and considering how risks could be reduced as relates to the safety of the food products

· Carry out regular site inspections to ensure that policies and procedures are being properly implemented and complied with by SME’s

· Keep records of inspection findings and prepare reports outlining the outcome of inspections as well as proposed recommendations for remediation

· Make changes to working practices to ensure these are safe and comply with legislation

· Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect SME respective industry;

· Create social media marketing campaigns and work / coach with the SME team to see them executed.

· Work closely with the branding & Marketing consultant team to create digital tools that enhance shopper experience, product selection and sales conversion.

· Use feedback from the consultant's channels team including Trade Marketing business coach to proactively seek out new target audiences for channels and developing marketing initiatives to capture identified audiences

• Train SME teams in trade marketing and distribution channels to become a point of contact for marketing activation, encouraging local initiative and entrepreneurial spirit within SME brand.

· Develop the market strategy for SME businesses, advise management on key developments in the market and make recommendations to assist in the overall planning strategy

· Participate in formulation of periodic trade marketing and business development strategies that will increase the market share across all customer categories

· Conduct market analysis and work with the consultants' support functions to develop the specific SME organisation’s annual demand plan including sales forecasts for the different products as well as a resource deployment plan to support achievement of forecasts

· Prepare sales volume and profitability budgets for sales considering the credit management, debt control, and discounting policies in place

· Set annual and monthly sales targets for the SME businesses as appropriate in line with the SME organisation’s overall sales targets

· Lead the implementation of business development initiatives as outlined in the functional plan to facilitate the development and maintenance of a strong customer base and to generate new business for SME’s

· Promote SME businesses and their respective product offerings with a view to maximise market penetration by increasing market share, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and reputation

• Prepare health and safety strategies and developing internal policy to guide operations within relevant SME businesses.
• Carry out risk assessments in respective SME businesses premises and considering how risks could be reduced as relates to the safety of the organisation’s resources including people
• Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
• Carry out regular site inspections to ensure that policies and procedures are being properly implemented and complied with by SME’s
• Keep records of inspection findings and prepare reports outlining the outcome of inspections as well as proposed recommendations for remediation
• Make changes to working practices to ensure these are safe and comply with legislation
• In liaison with the SME’s' human resource department, oversee in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
• Coach on how to record incidents and accidents and prepare statistics report for management decision making
• Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect SME respective industry;
• Advise other functions on different of specialist areas in health and safety including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
